Bad news for Windows Phone fans who own older devices that are not updated to version 8, as Microsoft has recently announced that it will no longer support Xbox Video content for these smartphones.

According to the Redmond-based company, beginning February 2014, “any Xbox Video content you own as of then, will no longer be playable through the Zune PC client, Zune devices, or Windows Phone 7 devices.”

Microsoft will be making an update to its video catalog, which will allow the company to “more quickly and more efficiently add the highest quality video content to the Xbox Video service.”

Furthermore, the company suggests that those who wish to take advantage of Xbox Video content on their devices beginning February 2014 should watch it via XboxVideo.com on PC or Mac, or on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8 and 8.1 PC and tablet or Windows Phone 8.
