Microsoft has just announced that it’s continuing the Year Up campaign with a new mission in Chicago, thus giving the local community free Windows 8 computers, including Surface tablets.

The Year Up Chicago Class of January 2014 has received brand new computers as part of Microsoft’s efforts to provide urban young adults with access to new tech and help them build up professional careers in the IT field.

“These Year Up students are currently in the internship phase of the program, and are gaining real-world experience at some of Chicago’s most well-known companies. This experience gives them the opportunity to network and learn the skills necessary to thrive when they enter the workforce,” the company explained.

Of course, the company hasn’t missed the occasion to praise its Surface tablets, explaining that even the RT model, often described as the entry-level Windows 8 device, is capable of providing a truly unique and valuable experience.
