Adam Orth, the Microsoft Game Studios Creative Director who publicly defended the idea of a mandatory online connection for consoles last week, no longer works for the company.

Last week, a new report mentioned that the Xbox 720 had a mandatory internet connection and wouldn't even let users play games or access apps without being online.

Soon after that, Microsoft's Adam Orth defended the idea on Twitter and suggested gamers without internet connections should just "deal with it" and "get with the times."

Microsoft soon issued an apology and distanced itself from Orth's statements.

Now, GameInformer reports that Adam Orth no longer works for Microsoft, although it's unclear if he resigned or was simply fired for commenting on a supposed feature of the next generation Xbox 720 (aka Durango).

Microsoft hasn't commented on the current situation of its creative director.
