The new build is far from being bug-free

The third Windows 10 Mobile build for Windows Insiders has just been released earlier today. Along with the new features and improvements announced by Microsoft, the company also confirmed that the new version comes with some known issues as well.

We have already reported about the MMS bug that might lead to losing MMS messages when the cellar data connection is turned off, but build 10080 has many other known issues that might or might not be fixed in the next version.

First of all, there are some migration issues after upgrading to Windows 10 Mobile 10080, so make sure you read about them before installing it on your Lumia smartphone.

It looks like after upgrading, you might see duplicate tiles for apps like Search and Phone under All Apps. Also “pending” may show under some apps after upgrade and those apps are unresponsive. This issue might be resolved by restarting the phone.

Furthermore, all data and settings for apps installed on an SD card do not get migrated and users will not be able to launch these apps or install them again. The only workaround would be to uninstall then reinstall these apps from Windows Phone Store.

Another issue consists in the fact that the old email app might still show up after upgrade in All Apps list with “error” text displayed and cannot be removed. The same app will also show up banged out on the Start screen if it was previously pinned. In order to remove it, simply unpin it.

Cellular data connection will be turned off after upgrading

The cellular data connection will be automatically turned off when upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1, so make sure you enable it once you finish updating.

There's also a bug with Cortana that repeatedly crashes it in some circumstances. To avoid Cortana crashes, you need to make sure that your region, language, and speech settings are restored to their default values before initiating the update, if you are in a region where Cortana is enabled and you have changed the default shipping language on the phone.

More known issues confirmed by Microsoft include the fact that after upgrade, uninstalling an application may not remove it from the All Apps list. In order to solve the issue, simply restart the phone.

It looks like playback of movies and TV may fail with error 0x8004c029 in the Video Preview app. Also, the Twitter app may crash on launch after upgrading. You need to uninstall and reinstall the application in order to make it work.

Keep in mind that the auto-update for apps is not yet enabled in Windows 10 Mobile build 10080 for apps installed via Store Beta, which means that you will have to manually check for updates.

Last but not least, after upgrading from build 10052, the Insider Hub won't launch, but if you upgrade from Windows Phone 8.1, the Insider Hub should now work as intended.
