Microsoft has revealed its plans for this year's Gamescom, taking place between the 18th of August and the 22nd of August in Köln, Germany. Kinect will take the main stage, of course, but Age of Empires Online and a Microsoft Flight Simulator spin-off, both for the PC, have been announced.

Gamescom is the largest gaming event in Europe, where Microsoft wants to officially launch Kinect, its take-on the motion controller craze started by Nintendo, in the old continent.

Chris Lewis, the vice president of the interactive entertainment business division of Microsoft Europe said that, “We are bringing the Kinect experience to Europe for the first time at Gamescom because this is the biggest show in the region and we’re committed to investing in Europe and the critical role it plays in Xbox’s global success.

“We’re already seeing a high level of anticipation in Europe with sales of the Kinect ready Xbox 360 250GB creating an all-time record weekly market share.

“With “Age of Empires Online”, “Fable III” and new games still in development , we’re also bringing social, connected gaming experiences to all new audiences on the PC,” the exec explained.

Age of Empires Online, Fable III and the new Flight Simulator title will be using the controversial Games for Windows Live software. It seems the recent rumors of Microsoft attempting another push into PC gaming are coming true.

Microsoft will be showcasing more features of the the Kinect launch titles like Kinect Joy Ride and Kinect Adventures this time around. Also new animals will be revealed for Kinectimals and three new events for Kinect Sports. Harmonix and MTV Games will also announce new tracks for Dance Central

Halo: Reach and Fable III will also be playable on the show floor both for the fans and press.
