The company will continue to focus on 10.1-inch devices

Microsoft officially launched its first tablet called Surface RT last week and another one baptized Surface Pro is already in the pipeline, so the company seems to be really serious about the tablet market this time.

But even so, Microsoft is not at all interested in 7-inch tablets, which means that the Redmond-based technology company will continue to focus on larger screens for the time being.

It also means that the recently-launched iPad mini won’t get a Redmond-based rival, despite the fact that Microsoft’s Surface RT is already considered a killer of the bigger iPad.

Tami Reller, corporate vice president and CFO of Microsoft's Windows Group, told Nate Lanxon of Wired UK that larger tablets remain Microsoft’s main focus for the moment.

“Correct,” Reller quickly replied when she was asked to confirm if rumors claiming that Microsoft doesn’t plan a 7-inch tablet are really true.
