Microsoft has offered a new statement concerning the Halo movie, revealing that it has no plans to create a film based on its franchise, instead focusing on smaller projects like the upcoming TV series made with Steven Spielberg.

The Halo movie seemed to be happening some time ago but, once director Neil Blompkamp left the project, things practically fell apart.

Yesterday, however, a new report appeared online claiming that a new Halo movie was going to be directed by famous Hollywood man Ridley Scott.

Now, Microsoft has relayed an official statement to Eurogamer, confirming that there are no plans to create a Halo motion picture at this time.

The company will, however, "continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels."

Microsoft has already revealed at last year's E3 event that it's working alongside noted filmmaker Steven Spielberg to create a TV series based on its shooter franchise.
