Microsoft has contributed with $2 billion (€1.5 billion) in the Dell buyout, but it seems like the PC manufacturer might benefit even more from the software giant’s involvement.

Just like ArsTechnica noted, the documents of the deal are now public, revealing some very interesting terms that might support Dell’s recovery process.

It appears that Microsoft and Dell might renegotiate their Windows licensing deal at some point, even though no details are available for the time being.

“From and after the date hereof, each of the parties hereto agree to negotiate in good faith and enter into, as soon as reasonably practicable after the date hereof and, in any event, prior to the Closing, one or more agreements between the parties and/or their Subsidiaries, in order to modify, alter or amend, effective as of the Closing, the standard terms for payment under the existing commercial agreements between the Purchaser and/or its Subsidiaries, on the one hand, and Dell and/or its Subsidiaries, on the other hand, including the master OEM relationship agreements,” the documents mention.

Even though no official comments have been made so far, such a renegotiation could after all affect the other PC manufacturers on the market, as Microsoft might favor Dell in an effort to bring more Windows devices to the market.
