The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One home console is on a charm offensive at the moment and is delivering another video interview that features Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, talking to the new leader of the hardware division, Phil Spencer.

In the new footage, the executive talks about a wide range of issues, including the 26 years he has spent working at Microsoft and how he progressed through a number of positions before he arrived at the head of the Xbox division.

He also explains that the company has long-term plans to improve the experience of its users and increase their interaction with the next-gen home console.

He states, “Fundamentally, this is a company that wants to change the world. They have the resources and the ambition to do that, whether it’s with Xbox or any of the products that we build.”

Gamers have long seen Microsoft as a somewhat cynical operator that aims to create solid sales for its hardware and the games that it launches without having a powerful connection with the end user.

Spencer adds, “The discussions I’ve had about my role and what Xbox means, is we have the ambition to build the best gaming console for fans. A gaming console that plays the best game, has the best entertainment, and to be a company like this, it’s incredibly motivating for someone like me.”

The executive also reveals that his favorite gaming experiences at the moment include both Limbo and Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood.

He has also suggested that a big announcement from Microsoft is coming during E3 2014 and that it will be both atmospheric and soulful, although the leader of Xbox was not yet ready to offer any details.

The Xbox One is at the moment lagging in terms of sales behind the PlayStation 4 from Sony, although the trend could be reversed when the impact of Titanfall is revealed in the NPD Group hardware numbers that are coming next week.

The Xbox One is set to get a new Halo title at some point in late 2014 or early next year and the team at Microsoft has also said that it is planning to create a live action series built around Master Chief.

The company is also aiming to deliver more indie titles to its player base and develop experiences that make good use of the Kinect motion tracking system.
