The company still has a few more things to fix

Microsoft's Gabriel Aul revealed earlier this week that users registered for the slow channel updates in Windows 10 would get build 9879 by the weekend, but it turns out that the company has delayed the release for a few more days.

Aul explained in a new series of tweets that more fixes are being implemented in this new release, so those who have select Windows 10 to work on the slow ring update system would only get build 9879 sometime next week.

What exactly is going to be fixed is yet unknown, but Gabriel Aul also confirmed that everyone running Windows 10 build 9879 would get these improvements, so if you're already registered for the fast update cadence, expect some updates for your computer next week as well.

Windows 10 build 9879 is the latest update for the Windows Insider Program of the year, as Microsoft revealed recently that the next pack of improvements would be shipped in early 2015, as it needs more time to improve certain features and introduce new ones based on consumer feedback.

What's new in Windows 10 build 9879

There's no doubt that the temptation to switch to the fast update channel is really big since it brings new OS versions and improvements sooner, but there's one thing that you should take in consideration when planning to do the switch.

In the fast ring, you also receive buggy improvements and features, so your computer might actually become very slow and get options that don't work as expected, so opting for the slow cadence could be the best way to go if fixing bugs is not your thing.

In Windows 10 build 9879, Microsoft finally implemented settings to disable the search and the Task view buttons from the taskbar, two features that have originally been implemented in build 9841. At that moment, no options to get rid of these two buttons were available, so the amount of feedback in this regard was pretty decisive for the implementation of disable buttons.

At the same time, Microsoft also polished the windows effects in this new release, so they're less visible, but add a modern touch to the new operating system.

Other than that, the notification center has a new position just near the taskbar clock, while Internet Explorer now has its very own feedback submission system, as Microsoft most likely prepares to introduce the next version of the browser in a future testing build.

Windows 10 should be here in stable form in mid-2015, so future updates are really critical for both users and Microsoft in order to fix bugs before the public launch.
