Bad news for Windows Phone enthusiasts eager to get the latest updates for Xbox Music application, as Microsoft has announced that it has delayed the new version for next week.

Xbox Music is one of the applications with many issues in Windows Phone 8.1. Although it works pretty well on Windows Phone 8, those who have installed the Developer Preview are almost unable to use the application on the phones.

It's unclear how the application got so buggy after applying the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, but users report that Xbox Music is very slow and some of the features don't even work correctly.

After countless negative messages both on the Windows Phone Store and on the support forum, Microsoft has decided to repair Xbox Music application and, why not, make it even better than it was supposed to be.

Thus, the Xbox Music Team has promised weekly updates that will be delivered every weekend, which would contain bug fixes, improvements and new features.

The changelogs for these updates have been published before the new Xbox Music versions go live, so users can evaluate the status of the application before and after an update.

For example, this week, Xbox Music users should have received the following new features and tweaks: continued focus on stability and performance improvements, initial sync of local and cloud content in the background, as well as support for more than 100 songs in Now Playing queue.

Moreover, Microsoft's engineers have also promised that they will bring Transparent Tile support, Live Tile support and faster loading of long lists. The update would have also made Xbox Music compatible with Kid’s Corner feature.

Last but not least, the update should bring some general UX improvements, but also lots of under the hood enhancements and bug fixes.

Unfortunately, the promised update won't come this weekend as expected. Instead, Microsoft has promised that the new version of Xbox Music will be available early next week. Here is the full statement of the Xbox Music Team:

“Our fourth update to the Windows Phone 8.1 Xbox Music app is almost ready. We have a few tweaks we want to get in this one, so expect it early next week. This next release will continue to deliver on feature requests you are providing through the User Voice forum. So please, keep the feedback coming.”

If nothing else goes wrong, we may see the update being pushed starting on Monday, but there is also a chance that the new version of Xbox Music might be delayed once again. Stay tuned for more on this one.
