Microsoft has announced that the upcoming Kinect Star Wars game won't be released during its previously announced 'holiday 2011' time frame, as the company, together with LucasArts, have decided to postpone the launch until early next year.

Without a doubt one of the biggest games set to appear for the Xbox 360 console and its Kinect sensor, the title was formally revealed at E3 2011, a couple of months ago. While the reactions were mixed, at best, with people still noticing that the controls and input lag weren't quite up to par, Microsoft and LucasArts looked set to deploy Kinect Star Wars this holiday season.

The companies even went as far as to confirm that a special edition Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle was coming, uniquely customized after the two robots from the Star Wars franchise, R2-D2 and C-3PO, together with a copy of the game.

Now, it seems that Star Wars fans will have to wait until they can use their bodies to become full on Jedi warriors, as Microsoft and LucasArts released a statement to the Official Xbox Magazine, saying that the game, together with the special bundle, have been delayed until next year.

"Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized," a spokesperson told OXM. "This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date."

The game looked pretty decent, but input lag was still a problem for the title, as highlighted in our own hands-on with Kinect Star Wars from Gamescom 2011.

As such, it's great to hear that both companies have realized that extra development time is needed in order to tweak the experience and minimize input lag, while extracting more power from the Kinect.
