Microsoft has added a new feature to its Windows live portfolio of services with the debut of a video search option. The Redmond Company has quietly introduced a test page addition to its beta search service that features video search capabilities. Microsoft initiative comes hot on the heels of similar services debuted by Google and AOL.

While the services are comparable in terms of interface, the actual volume of returned results delivers adequate ground for an indisputable differentiation. This is the case as a simple comparison revolving around the query "Paris" returned 3,616 results with Windows Live Search Video while Yahoo video identified 110,672 items.

Windows Live Search Video is constructed with a minimalist design, structuring results on a central axis complete with thumbnails, title, origin and a general description of the contents. The service features geographical characteristics related to searches according to specific locations. Also Microsoft has build in parental filter dubbed SafeSearch that is enabled by default and that comes with two strict and moderate settings while presenting the options to be turned off.
