Microsoft has recently announced that Skype users are provided with a new set of limited-edition emoticons that were created for fans of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Microsoft says that these new emoticons will probably come in handy to many users, as a survey conducted by the company itself revealed that 57 percent of users would love emoticons based on comic book characters.

The survey, the company notes, was conducted in the United States and the United Kingdom and was specifically made to help the company determine which emoticons should be added to Skype. More than 2,000 participants have been included in the research.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft used this new update to show users that it really cares about their opinions, especially because Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier is gaining in popularity.

“Well, we’re listening, and today we are introducing five new ‘hidden heroes’ emoticons based on characters from the upcoming blockbuster film, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Let Captain America salute a friend or loved one in your Skype IM chat,” the company said.

The five new emoticons are hidden in Skype, which means that you need to discover the codes in order to be able to use them in your conversations.

“Five new, limited edition emoticons, including Captain America, the mysterious Winter Soldier, Nick Fury and Black Widow are now available for your IM chats. While you can find most emoticons in our gallery, adopting the spy sensibilities of SHIELD and Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, these emoticons are ‘hiding’ within Skype,” Microsoft continued adding that users who want to discover the codecs for the new emoticons must visit the Hero Hub and follow the instructions available online to find more information on how to use the limited-edition pack in their conversations.

The latest version of Skype is needed in order to be able to use the new emoticons, with Microsoft explaining that all builds of the applications, including the Metro port that’s exclusively offered to Windows 8 and 8.1 users, but also on windows Phone, Xbox, and Android. Mac OS X users will receive it in the coming weeks as well.

At this point, not everybody can start using the new emoticons, but the software giant has promised that it’s currently updating its clients with the limited-edition pack, so check again soon to see if they have been added to your account too.
