The preview will go live in July

A preview of the Microsoft Malware protection center has gone live, and is designed to send all the right signals across the security industry, namely that Microsoft is here to stay. The Redmond Company's head of Security Research and Response team, Vincent Gullotto, attending RSA Japan announced the launching of the Malware Protection Portal. As I have already said, the portal is merely a preview with the final service planned for this summer.

"Welcome to the Microsoft Malware Protection Center Portal Preview. This portal will officially launch in early July and will have additional features such as malware sample submission. We welcome your feedback on the portal preview and on additional features you would find useful," reads an announcement on the Center's website.

At this time, the portal features four lists that reveal the most active malware families, malicious code variants, email threats and the top Adware/Spyware removals. The website also offers the latest definitions for Windows Defender and Microsoft Forefront Client Security for both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions along with the adjacent knowledge base articles. Users can access the site's Encyclopedia and receive detailed information about threats.

"We are releasing a preview of our Malware Protection Portal, which will go live this summer. This is another step to show that we are serious about security. Over the years I am working in security at Microsoft, we did a lot of work to build more secure products and gain the trust of the customers. We made big steps since we started Trustworthy Computing and this is the next, serious step into the security product business," stated Roger Halbheer Chief Security Advisor Microsoft EMEA.
