Microsoft’s websites have been affected by a temporary outage

Microsoft has been hit by another outage, as some of its DNS servers have apparently went down for a few minutes, which made many of its websites unavailable to some users across the world.

Neowin is reporting that most websites belonging to the Redmond-based tech giant have become unavailable a couple of hours ago, with users who tried to access Hotmail.com, Live.com, Windows.com, Outlook.com, and even Microsoft.com provided with a “Server not found” error.

While it’s not yet clear whether all Microsoft websites have actually been affected by the glitch, it appears that company engineers managed to address the problems very fast and bring all pages back online.

According to users across the world, it turns out that Microsoft’s websites could not be accessed from Europe, with both Microsoft.com and Windows.com working just fine in the United States.

Microsoft hasn’t provided any specifics on what happened, but the company did confirm in a very short statement that it indeed experienced a number of problems with its websites.

“Microsoft can confirm that all online services have been restored. We are investigating the root cause of the disruption and will continue to keep customers updated as information becomes available,” the company said.

Of course, it’s too early to talk about a potential hack aimed at the Redmond-based tech giant, as it was most likely an issue caused by an Internet service provider or DNS servers that failed to respond to requests due to a number of reasons.

At this point, all websites appear to be working just fine, so we’re still waiting for an official statement from Microsoft to find out what really happened with its pages.

As usual, we’ve reached out to Microsoft for a word on this, so we’re going to update the article as soon as we get an answer.
