As Microsoft continues the search for a new CEO, it turns out that more upper leadership changes are prepared for the Redmond-based tech giant

A report by Bloomberg and citing sources close to the matter reveals that the board of the company is currently discussing the possibility to replace Bill Gates as chairman, but it’s not yet clear whether this could happen at the same time with the new CEO appointment or later.

The same report adds that independent director John Thompson, who’s currently in charge of a committee looking for a new CEO, could replace Bill Gates as Microsoft chairman.

As for the new CEO, people familiar with the negotiations hinted that cloud chief Satya Nadella is the front-runner in the race, but more will be disclosed in just a couple of weeks when Microsoft makes the official announcement.
