The company is internally testing a new version for phones

Microsoft is expected to introduce a new version of Windows 10 Mobile preview anytime soon, and now Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, says that the next build could arrive in 2 or 3 days if internal testing goes well.

Aul has revealed that Windows 10 Mobile build 10136 is currently being tested by the Windows development team internally, as this build reached the OSG slow ring, which means that it’s very close to getting the green light for a public release.

Obviously, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Microsoft will launch the next mobile build this week for sure, because if any major bugs are discovered, the company could hold back the release and wait until a more stable and reliable version is being developed.

PC version also coming soon

As we’re getting closer to the official release date of Windows 10 for PCs in late July, Microsoft is working at an even faster pace to finalize development of some specific features and introduce the latest refinements and improvements to push the operating system closer to a final product.

A new PC build of Windows 10 was also expected this week, but now that Aul has confirmed that a new phone version is being tested internally, next week seems to be a much more likely date for desktop and tablet users.

Microsoft usually leaves at least one week between the release of PC and phone builds in order to allow insiders to send feedback and test each version more thoroughly, and the same thing can happen now if Windows 10 Mobile build 10136 gets the green light.

Windows 10 for PCs will launch in July, whereas the mobile version will need a little bit more time and could arrive in October. Some reports claim that Windows 10 Mobile might be ready in September, but Microsoft is yet to announce any release date for the smartphone version.
