A new report that came out yesterday indicated that Microsoft might actually push the new major version of Windows to spring 2015, which could be a sign that the company plans to delay products initially scheduled to go live in November 2014.

Now we’re hearing yet another rumor which claims that Windows 9 will actually be launched in 2014 and will be based on NT 6.4. What’s more, Microsoft might bring Windows 10 to the market a lot sooner than expected, with the same speculation pointing to a potential 2015 release date.

While nobody can tell for sure if these details are true or not, they pretty much get in line with what outgoing Steve Ballmer said with several occasions. Microsoft is committed to embracing a rapid release concept that would bring new Windows versions to the market a bit more often than before.

In the meantime, all eyes are on the Windows 8.1, as Microsoft will start the global release of the update later today.
