The tech giant has recently implemented the system in its account service

Microsoft and some other tech giants, including Google, Twitter, and Facebook, could face legal action, as Kim Dotcom, the now-famous founder of Megaupload, said he’s the owner of the two-factor authentication patent.

The technology is currently implemented in plenty of services across the world, including Microsoft accounts, so Kim Dotcom could very well send the Softies to the court. If they’re not willing to cooperate, that is.

Kim says that he might sue these companies because he needs money to fund his defense in the MegaUpload case against the United States.

“Google, Facebook, Twitter, I ask for your help. We are all in the same DMCA boat. Use my patent for free. But please keep funding my defense,” Kim tweeted.

Microsoft hasn’t yet issued a public comment on this, but we’re pretty sure that the company’s legal department is now looking into the claiming. Just in case Kim Dotcom decides to start a new legal battle.
