Video game hardware developer and publisher Microsoft has taken over another site that was used to scam players by offering to sell them Halo 4 beta keys.

The Halo4Beta.biz website has been acquired by Microsoft after it had lodged a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum, and the company has posted a message which tells the fan base of the Halo franchise to never give personal details or credit card information to websites that claim to offer access to the beta stage of the upcoming Halo title.

Microsoft says that the beta is currently closed to players and that it will be making an official announcement when it is open and will handle all key distribution.

Halo 4 is being developed by new studio 343 Industries and will once again star Master Chief and Cortana as they explore a new galaxy and battle a number of new alien threats.
