Microsoft started an anti-Chromebook campaign a few months ago, trying to show buyers that choosing a Windows PC or laptop is a much better choice for a number of reasons.

Today, the company revamped this offensive with a new promo that brings Windows laptops and PCs at special prices, while special ads created by Microsoft come to highlight the advantages over a Chromebook.

For example, thanks to this new campaign, you can purchase a Dell Inspiron 15 or an Acer Aspire E 15 ES1 for only $249 (€180) each, or pick the ASUS Transformer Book T100TA Gray Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC with Office for $349 (€260).

Microsoft has also prepared a number of deals for laptops buyers as well, so the Toshiba Satellite C55-C5298 can be yours for only $249, while the Acer Aspire V3 111-P6VM Signature Edition is up for grabs for $369 (€275).

Of course, Microsoft hasn’t missed the occasion to praise the capabilities of Windows devices, emphasizing that as compared to Chromebooks, they can run full Windows apps and Office, which is pretty critical as far as productivity is concerned.

“Go beyond Chromebook and get a Windows PC that fits your lifestyle across work and play. An easy, affordable alternative to bulky PCs or inferior tablets. You would be surprised where a Chromebook comes up short,” Microsoft says on its official online store.

“Unlike Chromebook, Windows laptops can run full versions of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the whole Microsoft Office suite of products, making it the easy choice when you need something small and lightweight that you can tote to your next class or meeting, but still know you can squeeze in some play time with Halo or your favorite PC game if you want to.”

The company then goes on to explain that Chromebooks force you to make a compromise, while Windows devices have everything you need to have fun or remain productive wherever your go.

“Windows PCs take full advantage of the Windows operating system and your favorite productivity tools to give you versatility like a Chromebook can't. So why choose or compromise when you don't have to? If you want the best experience a computer can offer in a small package, nothing compares to a Windows laptop. Creativity, productivity, and entertainment finally come together in one place,” it said.

Unsurprisingly, Chromebooks have grown a lot lately and Microsoft most likely knows that it has to react quickly in order to slow down their market share increase. The company is now offering Windows free of charge to OEMs building devices with a price below $250 (€180) in an effort to boost the number Windows products on the market that are available at a very affordable price.
