With the entire world becoming increasingly mobile every day, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft announced more services available for users on the go.

Xbox Live is one of the services that have already been made available for mobile phone users, though only for a small number of them so far.

Soon, however, that should change, as the Redmond-based company is gearing up for making it available on more devices.

Microsoft is readying Xbox Live for Android and iOS, and it might not be too long before the service is accessible from these devices. At the moment, it is up and running on Windows Phone smartphones.

A recent article on Forbes notes that Microsoft has already confirmed plans to make Xbox Live available on more mobile phones, although a specific release date hasn’t been made official for the time being.

“While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices,” a Microsoft spokesperson reportedly stated.

“To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.”

While no platform was mentioned, it is obvious that the service will be targeted at Android and iOS, currently the leading mobile OSes out there.

Xbox Live, Microsoft’s online gaming network, generates significant revenue, the news site notes. Clearly, an expanded user base would increase that revenue. Microsoft’s presence on the mobile gaming area will enjoy a significant boost as well.

The availability of Microsoft’s service on these mobile platforms could equal with the availability of Xbox Live games for their users.

This is not the first time that hints at the upcoming availability of the service on more mobile operating systems out there emerged.

In a recent job listing, the Redmond-based company mentioned plans to make the platform available for other mobile OSes. Microsoft noted plans to bring Xbox Live to “Windows Phone, iOS and other mobile platforms” in the said job post.
