14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced a few days ago the immediate availability of a new business application for those who wish to communicate in an enterprise environment: Skype for Business.
The new application has been in beta for a few weeks and now is rolling out as part of the April monthly update for Office 2013.
The application is built right inside Office, which means that users will be able to benefit from features like IM, voice and video calls, and online meetings as an integrated part of the Office experience.
Skype for Business also provides users with the option to connect with anyone in the Skype network, inside or outside of their organization.
Those who are currently using Lync Online in Office 365 should know that the recently launched Skype for Business will be available to them in the coming weeks.
Since Skype for Business is now available exclusively on desktops, Windows Phone fans have asked developers whether or not the application will arrive on their smartphones as well.
During their AMA session on Reddit, Skype for Business developers first hinted to a possible release on mobile phones.
“I'm running a Lumia 1520. I cannot confirm nor deny the existence of a Skype for Business mobile client on my phone. Hopefully you won't run into me at Ignite and accidentally see me using something like this on my phone...”

However, later on, they confirmed that Skype for Business would be available not only on Windows Phone platform but also on Android and iOS.
“Can't disclose the date at this point but definitely Skype for Business mobile applications will be available on iOS and Android in the coming months. In the meantime, customers can continue to use the Lync mobile clients with Skype for Business - they still work great.”
So there you have it, folks, Microsoft is already working on a mobile version of Skype for Business, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
