Xbox Head, Phil Spencer confirmed the information

Xbox One owners have been asking Microsoft to bring the ability to take screenshots on their consoles for quite a while now, but all they got were just evasive answers, nothing concrete.

However, this does changes today, as Xbox Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has finally offered a tentative release timeframe for the “screenshots” options.

According to him, Xbox One consoles will receive the option to take screenshots in early 2015: “Screenshots are coming early this year. I know it has been a question for quite a while. We delivered themes, so I think a natural add-on to themes are screenshots.

“Giving people more ability to share their great gaming moments on the platform, whether it's just as a screenshot, as their background or through many of the different social networks that we allow people to share their content through is a long-term commitment that we have.”

This means that it could be coming around March given the fact that the February system update has already been detailed and it only brings Game Hubs and some improvements to TV support.

Unfortunately, we cannot tell for sure whether Microsoft decides to push the screenshots functionality slightly earlier via a dedicated update.

Microsoft also reassures fans they will continue to offer regular system updates

In other news, Microsoft also confirmed they would continue to improve the Xbox One experience through the usual system update, but they will also listen to fan feedback to implement the changes that they want most.

With a pretty impressive lineup of games that include Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Evolve, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Halo 5: Guardians, 2015 may be a great year for Xbox One players.

Since we can already record video with the Xbox One, let’s hope the ability to take screenshots will be added sooner rather than later.
