Microsoft has just confirmed that its Nokia Lumia 635 budget-friendly smartphone will hit shelves in the UK on July 3. The handsets will be available for purchase for only £120 (€150 / $205) off contract through Vodafone, EE, 3, Phones4U, O2, Carphone Warehouse, Tesco and Amazon.

Obviously, customers will be able to pick this one up for free on select plans with the carriers mentioned earlier. It’s also worth mentioning that the Lumia 635 will only be available in orange, green and matte black colors.

Microsoft’s announcement doesn’t come as a surprise, as many UK-based retailers have already confirmed that the Lumia 635 will arrive in their stock on July 3.

Still, it’s good to have a confirmation directly from Microsoft, so we can be sure that the smartphone will not be delayed for various reasons.

One of the few smartphones to come with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box, Nokia Lumia 635 provides users with lots of useful apps and services that come preloaded.

For example, the handset offers users the chance to experience the new Word Flow and Internet Explorer apps, as well as various social apps such as Instagram, WeChat and WhatsApp.

Even though the smartphone will only be available in three color options, the Lumia 635’s back cover is exchangeable, which means that owners can purchase new colorful shells, including bright orange, bright green, bright yellow, black and white.

On the inside, Nokia Lumia 635 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and only 512MB of RAM.

The smartphone packs 8GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB) and a decent 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

The 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back lacks LED flash, but offers autofocus and HD (720p) video recording. No secondary camera is included in the front either.

On the positive side, Nokia Lumia 635 offers LTE support, as well as various other connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS.

“Building around the excitement of the 630 launch, we are delighted to announce the Lumia 635. This powerful 4G device boasts quad-core processing and the uncompromised Windows 8.1 experience which is all packed into a beautiful design at an affordable price point,” said Conor Pierce, VP of Microsoft devices for the UK & Ireland.
