Windows Phone, the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, has been recently discovered to have been plagued with an issue related to the Messaging Hub, which could result in the device force closing and the messaging app being prevented from starting again.

The bug was found to be triggered by SMS messages that included specific lines of code, as well as by messages received via Facebook chat and Windows Live Messenger.

Apparently, Microsoft is aware of the issue, and plans on fixing it as soon as possible, at least this is what Greg Sullivan, senior product manager for the Windows Phone division at Microsoft, told The Verge.

"We are aware of the issue and our engineering teams are examining it now. Once we have more details, we will take appropriate action to help ensure customers are protected."

The Redmond-based giant did not offer specific info on when the issue might be fixed, but chances are that this will happen via a software update sent to devices over the air.
