Skype doesn’t offer a smooth experience on Windows platform and Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and has confirmed that it’s currently working on a set of improvements meant to enhance the application’s features and capabilities.

Skype Product Manager Jeff Kunins told The Verge in a recent interview that Microsoft was aware of all the issues that the users were experiencing and planned to address most of them in a series of updates that would be rolled out soon.

“I don’t think we’ve talked publicly a bunch about Windows Phone 8.1 and the experience, but as you can imagine we’re certainly working closely with them and how that experience is.

“We’ve made a ton of progress on our Windows Phone app in general, and as you can imagine we’re doing a lot of fun things for Windows Phone 8.1 as well. I think there will be some fun things to see there,” said Kunins.

Aside from the numerous issues that will be addressed in the Windows Phone version of Skype, Kunins has confirmed that Microsoft will also improve the loading times and will enhance the notifications system. Other tweaks and new features are expected to be added as well, starting next year.

In the same piece of news, Kunins claims that it was pure coincidence that the update that added Video Messaging for Skype did not arrive on the Windows Phone platform at the same time as Android and iOS.

Although Windows Phone fans must have felt pretty awful since their version of Skype was not updated with Video Messaging service alongside the iPhone and Android applications, Kunins explains that “it was just completely honest coincidence based on the fact that historically that sequence didn’t matter at all."

But since Skype is now part of Microsoft, Windows Phone fans should expect things to improve and new updates to arrive on their devices ahead of other platforms, or at least at the same time.
