Microsoft Claims That Windows 8 Response Is “Tremendous”
Microsoft India chairman says Windows 8 sales are going as planned
Bhaskar Pramanik, the chairman of Microsoft India, claims that sales of the new operating system developed by Microsoft are actually going as planned, despite reports suggesting that CEO Steve Ballmer himself is disappointed with first sales figures.Pramanik told Business Standard that response for Windows 8 has been “tremendous” so far, so he expects the new software to perform even better in the upcoming months.
“The response has been tremendous. Our CEO Steve Ballmer had earlier announced that in the first four days after the launch, we had seen about 4 million downloads globally. It is obviously a much faster adoption when compared with earlier generations of Windows. We are seeing footfalls in malls and store,” he said.
Microsoft is yet to disclose official sales figures for the new OS, but sources familiar with the matter have hinted that company executives are blaming the PC industry for Windows 8’s slow debut, as the lack of devices running the OS reduces the number of users making the move to its new software.
