State-owned China National Radio said a couple of days ago that Microsoft violates the local laws by offering a one-year warranty for the Surface Pro, the company’s tablet that runs the full version of Windows 8.

The tech giant, on the other hand, said that Microsoft is actually offering two-year warranty that covers the whole device, without providing any specifics on the recent criticism.

“We stand behind our products with a manufacturer’s warranty, which is additional to our commitment to honor any statutory obligation as either a manufacturer or retailer, to repair or replace a faulty product,” Microsoft was quoted as saying in a Bloomberg report.

Microsoft officially launched the Surface RT in China soon after the public debut in October, while the Pro model went on sale earlier this month.
