Microsoft revealed in an email sent to all Windows Insiders this morning that its Terms of Service for the Windows 10 preview program were changing, but the company refused to provide any specifics for the time being.

It, however, revealed that more details would be provided at the upcoming January 21 event, when the company is expected to discuss more Windows 10 features and detail the consumer experience in the new operating system.

The email that all Windows Insiders received today claims that “more exciting updates and announcements” will be coming soon, so Microsoft is also trying to tease the upcoming press event at the same time, hinting that January 21 will indeed witness the unveiling of several new projects.

“Updated program terms coming soon! Be sure to check back after January 21 review. Your continued participation in the Program once the terms are live constitutes your acceptance,” the email reads.

New Windows 10 build coming this month

The latest Windows 10 Technical Preview build released by Microsoft is 9879, but many users are already running 9888 or 9901, both of which were leaked to the web in the last couple of months.

A new version of Windows 10 TP, however, is expected by the end of January, and some people close to Microsoft’s plans suggest that the company is planning to showcase this new build at the January 21 event.

Often referred to as Windows 10 Consumer Preview but unlikely to be a consumer preview, the new build will include several new features, among which a working version of Cortana for PCs and Continuum, a tool that allows 2-in-1 PC owners to switch from the desktop to the Modern UI without interrupting their work.

At the same time, the new Windows 10 preview build could also introduce big changes for desktop users, including a dark theme and a revised taskbar with a minimalist approach, as Microsoft is reportedly looking into ways to refresh the desktop UI from the ground up.
