Microsoft today released the Proxy statement for Microsoft’s fiscal year 2012, revealing that CEO Steve Ballmer received a bonus of $620,000 / €481,000.

While this represents only 91 percent of his eligible target award, the official statistics published by Microsoft point out that the company’s CEO received total compensations of $1,318,128 / €1,024,982 for fiscal year 2012.

“The award was based on his performance self-assessment and other relevant information considered by the independent members of the Board, including: Mr. Ballmer’s performance against his individual commitments; the operating income performance of the Company relative to 25 large technology companies (a group that includes most of our Technology Peers); success in substantially completing development of Windows 8 and the new Office suite; integration of Skype,” Microsoft said in the public statement.

Steven J. Sinofsky, president of the Windows and Windows Live Division, impressed the board with the Windows 8 operating system, so he received 90 percent of his bonus which accounts for $7.65 million / €5.9 million. His total compensation is $8.5 million / €6.6 million.

Kevin Turner, the company’s chief operating officer, received a total bonus of… hold your breath… $12 million / €9.3 million, which basically represents 120 percent of his target award.

“Under Mr. Turner’s leadership, enterprise sales grew 12% in the Server and Tools Business, business revenue increased 9% in the Microsoft Business Division, and deferred revenue increased 17% as customer satisfaction increased for the third straight year,” Microsoft explained in the official papers the reasons behind Turner’s impressive financial bonus.
