Stephen Elop, the former Nokia boss and currently a Microsoftie, is planning to bring Office on both iOS and Android in case he’s chosen to lead the Redmond-based giant’s business.

Elop is said to be one of the top candidates for the Microsoft CEO position, along with Ford’s CEO Alan Mulally and several other insiders.

While it was initially reported by Bloomberg that Elop might even try to get rid of Xbox and Bing in case he’s elected Microsoft CEO, the same publication now adds via unnamed sources that Elop would speed up the developed of Office for non-Windows platforms.

At this point, Microsoft is indeed pondering the possibility of porting Office to iOS and Android, but no information as to when the new versions could launch has been released.

With Elop at the helm of the company, Microsoft would focus more on its core products, including the Windows operating system, cloud-based services, and the Office productivity suite.
