Microsoft’s Surface tablets are being used for a wide array of purposes and the company recently announced that Aegis Living has switched to this particular device for 30 assisted living communities on the West Coast.

Redmond claims that the Surface tablet can be used for several critical tasks, including collecting data concerning medication for every single patient.

“Up until recently, dispensing medication was an onerous paper-based task. Now, Aegis Living is putting Surface to work to help administer medications and is simply delighted with the result. The device fits seamlessly into the medication care manager's routine and the organization's IT infrastructure. Even more importantly, it reduces the possibility of medication errors,” the company says.

The Surface family is very likely to receive a new member very soon that would feature LTE connectivity, so expect the device to be used for some new purposes in the coming months.
