A new Windows 8.1 Update 1 build has recently been compiled and according to some new screenshots that reached the web a couple of hours ago, Microsoft has prepared some pretty exciting features for its users.

In addition to several Start screen changes and the introduction of OneDrive, Windows 8.1 Update 1 will also come with the possibility to run Metro apps on the desktop, which basically means that users are no longer restricted to the Modern UI.

Screenshots are revealing minimize and close buttons for the Metro apps, which basically means that they’re now launched in separate windows, so running them on the desktop could soon be possible.

Earlier screenshots have also showed that Windows 8.1 Update 1 will allow users to pin Metro apps to the taskbar, so it seems like Microsoft will provide users with a full feature set in the future release.

As usual, Microsoft is yet to release comments on this, but more information is expected to be provided soon, as Windows 8.1 Update is expected to be launched on March 11.
