Microsoft and AOL have recently signed a new video sharing deal that will bring thousands of clips provided by the latter on Windows 8 and Windows Phone.

These clips will come from AOL's website, but will also include some video series that it plans to launch in the coming months, so Windows 8 users can get exclusive access to this fresh content.

While no financial deals have been disclosed, AOL says that Microsoft will benefit from a database of nearly 900,000 videos, which will all be delivered to Windows 8, Windows Phone, and MSN users. Bing apps will obviously be part of the deal as well.

"We're pleased to be able to bring this quality AOL video content to our audience across Microsoft's screens," said Scott Ferris, GM of Emerging Media and Video Advertising at Microsoft. "It is our goal to provide the best experience possible to our audience no matter where they are, and this content will improve our ability to delight our customers."

Microsoft says that AOL's videos will enhance the user experience on its devices, although there's no doubt that some might not really be interested in seeing such videos. It remains to be seen how this new feature will work out for users who only want a clean and fast experience in the Modern UI and Bing apps.
