The last Windows Phone handsets announced by Microsoft, Nokia Lumia 730 and Lumia 830, are expected to go on sale worldwide very soon.

What we don't know for sure is whether or not these will be the last Windows Phone devices launched with the Nokia brand. According to the latest hearsay, Microsoft is preparing for a rebrand of its future portfolio of Windows Phone handsets.

Basically, the Redmond-based company plans to drop the Nokia name for good. The next smartphones launched with Windows Phone on board will be called Microsoft Lumia, though the final name is still undecided.

Now, a new report has just appeared on French blog Nowhereelse claiming the same thing, only this time a few pictures of a supposedly Microsoft-branded smartphone come attached to the news.

The Microsoft logo is shown on a front panel that should be part of one of the first Windows Phone handsets post Nokia era.

Unfortunately, the Lumia brand is nowhere to be seen, and aside from the pictures of this front panel, which could be of any phone, there's nothing else to support this rumors for now.

We recommend our readers to take the info above with a pinch of salt, though sources familiar with Microsoft's future plans are certain that the brand change will start happening this Holiday season.
