The company instead recommends everyone to watch the event online

Microsoft will hold a new meeting with financial analysts on September 19 to discuss a number of topics, such as the company’s latest plans and the recent performance of its divisions, but it seems like this year not everyone is invited.

In fact, nobody is invited, as Microsoft wants everybody to watch the event online and listen to company officials and analysts following the Redmond-based company discussing its strategy.

AllThingsD writes that journalists have been invited to watch the live stream on Webcast, even though Microsoft CFO Amy Hood announced the event with much fanfare back in July.

“In late September, we will host a financial analyst event here in Redmond at which point we will discuss our strategy, our new organizational structure, and any changes to our reporting segments,” Hood said at that time. “We will also give more thoughts on our full-year outlook at that time.”

Even though little was said on this, the reason is pretty much obvious. With Steve Ballmer now getting ready to leave the company, Microsoft’s executives are most likely trying to avoid a long series of uncomfortable questions and focus on providing only the information they are supposed to reveal.
