Microsoft Band will receive an update in the next few weeks that will bring, in addition to several improvements, support for golf to provide you with stats in real time as you play it.

To make this possible, Microsoft signed a partnership with TaylorMade, so the Health app, available on Windows Phone, Android, and iOS, will also provide access to courses to improve your golf skills.

The Band will be able to tell the difference between a practice shot and an actual shot using the built-in sensors, Microsoft promises, and will track your moves to provide you with an in-depth look at heart rate, calorie burn, and steps you take during the game.

What’s more, the Microsoft Band (which we reviewed here) can keep track of your score and tell you where the next hole is to help improve your game. Obviously, you can pause the game at any time by double-pressing the action button to check the score and other information.

A plethora of stats

Once you’re done playing, the Band will provide you with general statistics, such as time of play, steps, and calories burned. All data will be then synced to Microsoft Health and will show a summary of the performance, along with a map of every hole to see how you did in the last game.

The Microsoft Health also allows you to view the longest drive and the distance traveled, but also to monitor the heart rate, which is one of the coolest features of the Band.

Microsoft promised to add these features in the coming weeks, along with other improvements for biking and other workouts, providing a more in-depth look at your performance and letting you analyze the way you have improved over time.

All these features will be enabled by default, so data will be collected automatically in the background, which means that the Health app will be able to generate statistics on certain periods of time, such as weekly and monthly.
