Microsoft has just announced that its cloud-based service Azure is now available in the Brazil South region, only a few weeks after the Redmond-based software giant made it available as a public preview for local users.

The company says that several large companies have already switched to Azure, including credit rating company Boa Vista Servicos, business management software provider Totvs, computing systems provider SiplanControl-M, and e-commerce website platform Shop Delivery.

“With compute capacity doubling every six months and more than 8,000 customers signing up weekly, we are helping customers get the power of the cloud delivered by world-class cloud technologies, services and infrastructure. Today, we are excited to help our customers in Brazil harness that power so they can transform their businesses,” the company said in a statement.

Microsoft says that making Azure generally available in Brazil was the next obvious step because more than 1,000 new customers are subscribing every day. What's more, revenue generated by this particular service grew more than 150 percent in the last quarter, so Microsoft has every reason in the world to continue investments in this particular product.

The company also promised to continue improvements in Azure, so lower latency and increased network redundancy are the key points of focus for Microsoft's engineers.
