Redmond has recently renamed Windows Azure to Microsoft Azure, but the company is back with even more news on its cloud-based service.

Microsoft Azure is now available in China with the help of 21Vianet, the company that will operate the service and provide support from multiple locations in the country.

The software giant says in a statement that Microsoft Azure was launched in China “to support the growing appetite for cloud services in this important region,” and choosing 21Vianet was just a logical decision since the company already provides cloud services to more than 3,000 customers.

“Coming on the heels of the general availability of Microsoft Azure for Japan just last month, this is yet another rapidly delivered milestone in our strategy to bring the benefit of Microsoft’s enterprise-grade cloud technologies to people and businesses around the world. Cloud computing is a big part of the future for China, and we are thrilled to play a role in bringing this future to our customers,” it said.

Microsoft recently announced that it’s rebranding Windows Azure to Microsoft Azure in an effort supposed to help the service better express its purpose to customers, as it’s not only focused on Windows, but on many other services, including PHP, Oracle, Java, and Python.
