The GoogleBomb is an attempt to modify the search results returned by a search engine and especially by Google, using a simple procedure to influence the websites displayed according to a keyword. In the past, there were numerous GoogleBomb attempts recorded by the search giant concerning George W. Bush or other politicians. Although the company removed them quickly, Google is continuously working on a technology able to crawl the websites, identify the GoogleBomb attempts and remove related websites from the search engine.

A few days ago, Googling Google reported a new type of GoogleBomb created with Google Maps, the map service designed by the search giant. As you surely know, Google Maps is the map solution developed by Google that allows you to view satellite maps and other imagery with the entire world using a simple web interface. Googling Google identified an interesting GoogleBomb on Google Maps that modifies the logo of the Microsoft headquarters to an anti-Windows image.

Although it seems like the search giant already removed the picture, the publication managed to make a screenshot, so it's obvious it was a GoogleBomb attempt. At this time, there is no official statement from Google, but it looks like the image was included in the related images displayed by the service. The procedure is quite simple, just like the original GoogleBomb attacks: "Sara B", an Internet user, uploaded her review of Microsoft on Google Maps among with an anti-Windows image. The review was placed on the first position on Google's search engine so it was displayed on Google Maps for Microsoft's headquarters.

Usually, a GoogleBomb is created using numerous websites by placing links between the pages that contain different information than the one returned by Google. As you know, Google's ranking algorithm calculates the position of the site using the number of the backlinks, so it's extremely easy to create a GoogleBomb able to influence the search results.
