Although in November, Microsoft only managed to increase the volume of visitors to its online properties by a mere 3.3%, the Redmond Company's websites are still the most visited Internet
landmarks worldwide. According to data published by ComScore Networks Inc., Microsoft accounted for a total of 501.7 million visitors in November and is atop Google and Yahoo.
ComScore additionally revealed that Google and Yahoo have switched positions, and that, for the first time ever, Google is the second most visited website in the world. This place was occupied until October by Yahoo. Generally speaking, Yahoo has enjoyed a stronger brand perception compared to Google, but it seems that the tendencies are changing.
The fact that Google substituted Yahoo as the second most visited online destination globally is a clear indication that the Mountain View Company's momentum will lead the search giant to displace Microsoft as the most visited website worldwide in 2007.
ComScore data indicated that while Microsoft increased its number of visitors by 3.3%, and Yahoo by 5.2%, Google's visitors jumped by no less than 9.1%. In this context, Microsoft was first with 501.7 million visitors, Google second with 475.7 million and Yahoo third with 475.3 million.
If Google continues to grow at the same pace, Microsoft's dominance will not survive beyond 2007. Even more so as the Redmond Company has been losing its grip on the search engine market with MSN/Live Search sinking in excess of 8% compared to 2005.
