Microsoft Hardware is seeing that the efforts poured into continually reinventing the design of computer peripherals are being awarded. In this regard, the Redmond company mentioned that a range of products offered by Microsoft Hardware had received Red Dot awards for their designs. The Microsoft Arc Mouse is among the products recognized for its innovation in style. Presented as a computer accessory rather than a peripheral, the Arc Mouse's main characteristic is that it can be folded, offering users a size reduction of approximately 50%.

The design is ultimately aimed to address the needs of mobile computer users, with the eye-candy factor strongly emphasized. Microsoft is offering no less than six color options for the Arc Mouse: marine blue, deep olive green, eggplant purple, frost white, crimson red and soft black. But there are additional products that have been celebrated from a design perspective.

Besides the Arc Mouse, LifeCam Show and Explorer Mini Mouse also received Red Dot design awards. At the same time, Red Dot applauded the Explorer Mouse with an honorable mention, based on the technical sophistication of the device. The Explorer Mouse, as well as the Explorer Mini Mouse come to the table with Microsoft BlueTrack, a technology designed to allow the mice to be used virtually on any surface, going beyond the limitations associated with laser and optical products.

“At Microsoft Hardware, smart and innovative designs are a top priority, and we are thrilled to see this recognized by red dot,” said Ralf Groene, lead product designer at Microsoft Hardware. “We work hard to ensure that our designs complement the product itself as well as its intended users’ personal style. Our design team met that challenge in these products — a stylish webcam that can be used on virtually any PC and fashionable mice with unique shapes and materials.”
