Essentially, MDOP 2011 includes the first upgrade to Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6, namely Service Pack 1 (SP1) RTM, as well as version 2.0 of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V).

When it comes down to App-V 4.6, business customers can certainly access the first upgrade through MDOP 2011, but they can also grab it via the Microsoft Download Center.

“Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.6 Service Pack 1 (App-V 4.6 SP1) updates App-V 4.6 with the latest security and stability enhancements to help keep computers running App-V up-to-date, reliable, and more secure,” the software giant stated.

“The goal of this service pack is to increase the overall quality of the existing product features while maintaining a high level of compatibility with previous releases.”

According to the software giant, customers will need Application Virtualization 4.6 RTM (4.6.0.1523) in order to upgrade to SP1.

Customers are advised that they can run into some problems with the upgrade for App-V 4.6.
