Microsoft is hard at work laboring to increase its foothold on the unified communications market. And in this context, every success, independent of the actual size, and of the geographical region, has to be celebrated. Especially when Microsoft is up against some tough competition, such as unified communications giant Cisco. The Redmond company has announced that it teamed up with Uniconverse and Sylantro in order to provide solutions for hosted unified communications services. Uniconverse is a company of the Hanjin Group, and will use Microsoft Solution for Enhanced VoIP Services.

"With this integrated unified communications service, Uniconverse is uniquely prepared and equipped to address Korea's business communications challenges," said Won Tae Cho, president of Uniconverse. "By leveraging the systems integration expertise of Hanjin and our deep understanding of the enterprise and SMB markets - particularly in the logistics, healthcare and education sectors as well as other vertical markets - Uniconverse provides an advanced, tailored solution that meets the specific requirements of customers in a wide range of industries."

"Uniconverse's implementation underscores the tremendous demand for hosted unified communications and collaboration services among enterprises and SMBs alike," said Michael O'Hara, general manager of the Communications Sector at Microsoft. "Hanjin and Uniconverse have significant experience providing a range of IT services to Korean businesses, and the addition of unified communications solution to their product portfolio will enable them to deliver even greater value to their customers."

Marco Limena, CEO of Sylantro Systems commented that the solution his company is offering together with Microsoft is focused on delivering scalability and reliability. Microsoft Solution for Enhanced VoIP Services will run on top of Sylantro's multiplay application feature server. The first beneficiary of the Uniconverse's VoIP services is Korea Air, but 10,000 more businesses will have access to the offerings by the end of this year.
