Good news for Windows Phone fans, as Microsoft has just announced it will expand Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview to additional smartphones.

The move doesn't come unexpected, as we reported earlier this month that the next Windows 10 Technical Preview build will bring support for more devices.

However, at that time we did not know which smartphones would be included on the list of supported phones, but we assumed that Microsoft would at least add the Lumia 930 which is one of its flagship smartphones.

Unfortunately, Microsoft's blog post doesn't mention anything about Lumia 930, instead it adds the other flagship smartphone it already launched on the market, the Lumia 1520.

Moreover, the list is pretty comprehensive and includes almost all Windows Phone handsets Microsoft and Nokia launched since the release of the operating system.

Initially, Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview was only compatible with 6 smartphones, but beginning with the next build only a few smartphones won't support the new operating system.

According to Microsoft's Gabriel Aul, this is just a preliminary list, but since many users wished for more transparency and more communication from the company, they have decided to make the announcement even if the decision to add some of these devices on the list is not 100% locked.

This means that Nokia Lumia 920 might eventually make it to the list of supported Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview devices, though there's a slim chance this will happen.

Almost all Windows Phone handsets will be compatible with the Technical Preview

So, without further ado, here is the complete list of smartphones compatible with the next Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview build: Lumia 1020, Lumia 1320, Lumia 1520, Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 526, Lumia 530, Lumia 530 Dual Sim, Lumia 535, Lumia 620, Lumia 625, Lumia 630, Lumia 630 Dual Sim, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 720, Lumia 730, Lumia 730 Dual SIM, Lumia 735, Lumia 810, Lumia 820, Lumia 822, Lumia 830, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928, Lumia ICON, Microsoft Lumia 430, Microsoft Lumia 435, Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM, Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM DTV, Microsoft Lumia 532, Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual SIM, Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM, and Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM.

Microsoft also confirmed that, if during tests they found a device specific bug, they might pull that device from the list. Also, the reason for a smartphone not being listed yet is likely caused by such a bug, but it may get fixed before the next build gets released.
