The Surface Pro 3 remains Microsoft’s flagship tablet, at least until the arrival of the eagerly anticipated Surface Pro 4, so the company still struggles to keep sales as strong as possible until a new model lands.

Today, Redmond has announced a new Surface Pro 3 discount as part of a Father’s Day promo, cutting $150 (€100) off the price of the four most powerful configurations in the lineup.

Basically, the campaign runs through June 27, but in order to have it on Father’s Day, you need to purchase it by June 17, which means that you have only a few hours left to do it.

Here’s the new pricing of the device (note that the promo is only available in the United States):

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i5 with 128GB and 4GB - $899 (down from $999) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i5 with 256GB and 8GB - $1,149 (down from $1,299) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i7 with 256GB and 8GB - $1,399 (down from $1,549) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i7 with 512GB and 8GB - $1,799 (down from $1,949)

Still no word on the Surface Pro 4

Some reports (which are yet to be confirmed) have claimed that the Surface Pro 4 is expected to arrive together with Windows 10, but Microsoft still remains tight-lipped on the successor to the Pro 3.

And yet, the upcoming Pro 4 is very likely to continue to be sold as a laptop replacement, just like the existing model, with Microsoft to still offer the built-in kickstand, a digital pen to make drawing and writing easier, with a removable keyboard to instantly turn it from a tablet to a laptop.

The Surface Pro 4 will remain a premium device and will have the price of one, so expect it to hit the market with a price tag that’s at least similar to the one of the Pro 3. Obviously, the price of the existing model will drop even more when its successor becomes available, and these discounts could be a sign that this moment is rapidly approaching.
