Microsoft announced a revised SQL Server Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) program

Yesterday, at the 2010 Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) Conference in Seattle, Microsoft announced a revised SQL Server Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) program.

This new Microsoft Certified Master program will make it easier for SQL Server experts to become authentic Microsoft Certified Masters, by offering more flexibility, advanced training and certification on Microsoft server technologies at a much lower cost.

The completion of the program means that the IT professional skills are validated, and the trainee is recognized as an expert who can design and apply solutions that meet all business demands.

The training program has a very high impact, just like the previous one did, and it should increase the visibility of MCMs and their value in the market.

The program is based on the experience of a series of courses, which include expert-level classroom training and laboratories, which are presented by Microsoft instructors and other partner organizations – people who are experts in their field and use real-world scenarios to explain to students, the most relevant skills.

Anyone who wants to be noticed by an employer or a customer, should increase their technical experience on Microsoft server products by completing the curricula and obtaining the Master certification.

The program includes three weeks of highly intensive classroom training, three computer-based evaluations and one lab-based test for every training rotation.

Microsoft offers five MCM certifications for: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (training is optional for this MCM certification) and Windows Server 2008 R2: Directory.

All candidates to a Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) certification must have obtained a Master certification first.

Also, because of the very large number of demands for a Microsoft Certified Master certification on SQL Server 2008, there have been some changes to the MCM program, to make sure that SQL Server experts who want to validate their in-depth technical skills can do so.
