A leaked version of Windows Blue reached the web a few days ago, making us believe that work on the first Windows 8 major upgrade is going on even faster than planned.

A public beta of Blue is expected in June, just in time for the BUILD developer conference, so it appears that the company has already started work on this testing version.

A report by The Verge and citing sources familiar with the matter revealed that Microsoft is now developing a so-called milestone preview, which could serve as the foundation for the public version we’ve told you about.

While only little is known about the stable build of Blue, rumor has it that Microsoft might launch it in August, only two months after the public beta sees daylight.

What’s more, Microsoft is very likely to choose a different name for Blue, as this is only the internal codename for the company’s new “set of plans.”
